Real Food, Real Family, Route 5 Vermont

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week from a family-run kitchen in Windsor.

About Us

The exterior of Frazer's Place with an open sign.

Some roadside spots coast on convenience. Frazer's Place earns its 4.6-star reputation the old-fashioned way: fresh food made with care, served from a family kitchen that has been running since May 1, 2013. Sitting along U.S. Route 5 in Windsor, Vermont, it is the kind of place that surprises you on first visit and pulls you back on every drive through the Connecticut River Valley.

The menu punches well above its weight for a spot this size. Burgers, seafood, and ice cream anchor the lineup, but the kitchen keeps things interesting across breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Guests routinely describe the food as fresh and homemade, the kind of cooking that carries real flavor rather than the flat taste of shortcuts. When a bowl of chowder reminds someone of their mother's recipe, that is not an accident. That is a kitchen paying attention.

Dine in at a table or grab your order to go. Either way, you are eating food that a family put genuine effort into, on a stretch of Vermont highway that is better for having them on it.

What We Offer

Frazer's Place opens at 7:00 AM every single day of the week and keeps the kitchen going until 8:00 PM, which means you can show up for a full breakfast before the morning fog lifts off the Connecticut River or settle in for dinner after a long afternoon on the road.

Dine-in guests get the full experience: a menu that spans breakfast, lunch, and dinner with burgers, seafood, ice cream, and a rotating cast of fresh, homemade dishes that make the menu feel bigger and more interesting than you might expect from a roadside spot. Everything is prepared with the kind of attention that earned this place nearly a thousand customer reviews and a 4.6-star rating.

"This place is doing something incredibly special for a fast-food spot. Honestly, the Michelin Guide needs to pay them a visit because the level of creativity and quality here is extremely unusual and impressive. I ordered the Hawaiian burger, and it was exceptional—delicious, creative, and executed perfectly. My wife had a hot dog that was loaded with fresh-made fries for only $5, which is an absolute steal. I opted for the sweet potato fries, and they were equally fantastic. To top off a great meal, we got the soft-serve ice cream. For $3.75, the "small" size was absolutely enormous and a massive bargain. Contrary to some of the negative reviews I’ve read, the waitresses were great and not rude at all. The facilities were clean too; the restrooms didn't appear dirty whatsoever. The outdoor seating area has a fantastic feel with a really beautiful mountain view. The only real critique I have is that their ordering computer system is a bit slow, and the staff seems to struggle to process a high volume of orders quickly when it gets busy—an upgraded system would go a long way. Also, clearing out some of the old trailers and work trucks parked near the outdoor seating would completely elevate the vibe of that gorgeous mountain backdrop. Delicious, delicious, delicious. We will absolutely be back!"

"For a small roadside place the menu is quite extensive. Everything was fresh and homemade. We were very pleasantly surprised. The corn chowder was so good it reminded me of my mother's. Would highly recommend stopping by. Great food and wonderful staff."

"Great roadside diner. We ordered at the window and sat outside on the benches. Super friendly staff. Had the Ruben Sandwich, some onion rings, mozzarella sticks and fish and chips. Ruben was great! Nice portion size, crispy and buttery bread with gooey cheese, plenty of meat and perfect balance of sauerkraut and dressing. Onion rings were nicely breaded and sweet on the inside. Mozzarella sticks were standard, meaning fried sticks of yummy and delicious cheese. For a roadside spot, it's great. Exactly as you would expect. Feels very locals oriented. Would go back if I was in the area."

"We got here just before they stopped serving breakfast and we’re glad we did (though the lunches looked good). The staff was friendly and service was good. It’s not a place that would draw you in for some kind of special ambiance; it is what it is — a small-town diner kind of place. Which is good. Lots of flannel, locals, and workers. The food was delicious and filling. I would especially recommend the biscuits and gravy and maple bacon."
